Gerbera Daisy

The color and flare of the petals and the ruffled center reminded me of the colorful dresses worn by female Flamenco dancers.

Processing: adjust levels, adjust bright/contrast, adjust saturation. Crop and rotate 90 deg CCW. Sharpen, USM, Gaussian blur RLE. Resize for web with cubic interpolation.

A really nice composition and great colours. The repeating spiral pattern of the petals makes it for me.

Nice colors. Good capture and nicely focused with close attention to texture. Interesting perspective in a challenge full of simular shots.

The images that always suffer from a lack of comments are the ones that are right in the middle ground. Everyone comments on the awesome shots. Some comment on the bad shots. But the middle ones, very few people say anything. So here I am to explain why I voted a 5:

This shot is fine as far as the subject matter goes. I do like the cropping and the angle. The sharpness seems okay (perhaps a tad over sharpened?). I think my main fault with it is the subjet matter itself... I'm sure you and others will disagree so this is probably more a matter of choice. I'm just looking for a little more "pizazz" to set an image apart from the rest.

Looks a little oversharpened and overexposed, would like to see this flower complete..
