I took this photograph in Thompson Falls, Montana.
In order to properly expose the spider and underexpose the sky, I used a very small aperature. I used a ring flash to illuminate the spider.
After opening the RAW format image, I used Photoshop in the lab colorspace to
1. sharpen the lightness channel using unsharp mask
2. increase the contrast by steepening the a and b channels

Love the backgroun and lighting. The spide itself is less graphic. Nice mood.

Nice use of lighting the foreground and capturing the background.

The background and the web are nice in this picture, but the spider looks like a glob.

Seems planned and considered. Technically good.Noce to see shape in the background not a standard blur out.

Spooky shot. Nice job.

nice composition though the sppider would have stood out more against the dark background. If the spider had been positioned just below the bright spot I would have liked this a lot more

Wow! Very cool capture! I think you might be able to get more DOF out of your spider if it wasn't in the brightest part of the sunset, but still a very nice job!

Great perspective with the image in the background. Maybe lighting on the web would have showcased it better I'd have liked to see the spider up closer. Overall - nice.

The background seems to distract from the spider. Wish you could have gotten in closer to the spider.
