I inherited an antique pocket watch from my grandmother, who loved all things antique. Sadly, it's not working anymore, but I have dreams of finding a jeweler who can someday restore it to working order. I've always cherished it and there's an inscription inside that transports me through time when I look at it.

It was very hard for me to get the lighting right for this shot. Very difficult to avoid any kind of reflection from lights showing up in the shot. I really wanted to give the photo something of an old-time feel.

The composition on this is great. The diffused glow is nice, too.

The diffused glow helps achieve the old time feel for this image. The specks are a bit distracting it seems but then again, it's an old watch right? Great image.

This is a really nice piece. I love the coloring. It really says 'antique'. I agree with Carter, a little more DOF and the bright spot in the upper right are the only things that take away from this image. If you get the chance to re-shoot with those things in mind, it would make a nice print.

This is a beautiful shot (and the sentimental value you have for it comes through in your representation of the piece).

I remember this well from the Macro V Challenge and thought it would have finished much higher, but I imagine that it scored lower because it didn't fit most people's stereotypical definition of a "macro".

I think you did a great job with the lighting and making it feel "antique" with your tonal choice. The gold inlays really display well. There are only two things that bother me about it: 1) the white area in the upper right and 2) the blurriness of the seconds circle at the bottom center.

Still, a great shot and I'm glad you shared it. Just my 2 cents...

I like the tones and soft focus but not the crop

I like the dreamy feel to this. It seems a tad dark, hopefully not my screen.

Nice shot ... I like the rich tonal feeling ... Just a bit more highlight on the top to middle would have made this stand out even more.
