Well i wrote you a long comment - and it was deleted. How fun.
Chesire, i gave a 4. FIrst off let me say how glad i am that you used an ironed sheet as a backdrop. Entirely too often i see crinkled old bedclothes used, and it just isnt pretty. So Thankyou!
The concept of the photo is beautiful, and it is well composed. However the first thing that caught my eye in this photo was the smutz on babies ring finger. I wished you had wiped her little hands off. And maybe a little baby lotion to smooth down the horny skin on her index finger.
As you probably realised, 60 watts isnt much light for a camera. With a bit more lighting, the image would have been crisper. I was quite surprised when i checked your aperture that this was shot at f8. I would have used a macro setting to take this photo, to capture the finer details.

For your questions: Since we are now out of the challenage, to improve, i would use the heal brush to remove the problems spots from babies hands. I would use curves (carefully) to make the sheet a more soild black ( avoiding making the hand orangey). I might also experiment to see how the image looked as black and white by using the desaturate (not the grayscale) option.

I like the fact that the rings look like they have been worn for ages. Not real sure about the lighting..just a little harsh. Too bad it wasn't advanced editing...could have cloned out that thing that looks like a bugger on the child's finger. :-)

Like the idea, could be cropped some, maybe more contrast, feels a little grainy
