Taken at Scales and Tails. Special thanks to Tyler for getting it out for me to play with. The couple decent pictures I have all co-star that silly little white fuzzy. Major color, brightness, contrast adjustments not to mention flipped about the veritcal axis so he's facing left.

Interesting lighting with the spot on the head of the creature, but I think I would have wanted to see the tail with the stinger equally to the head

Very cool lighting. This dude scares me. I like the texture and detail in the hairs.

Reflections on the subject....is it real and alive???

I have a few criticisms of this pic:

1. It might have been nicer to get a shot of the animal in an environment at least similar to its natural habitat - this seems to be a table or floor.
2. The lighting is very harsh - clearly a lam,p held quite close to the subject.
3. I'm not keen on the thick border (this is more of a personal thing than a photography critique).

Having said that you've brought out the texture on the shell very well indeed.

I'm not big on the lighting of this shot, although I can appreciate it was probably a tricky subject to light given the colour of it. I think no border or a thin border would have made the image seem less heavy.

This creature looks dangerous! I think it's the only scorpion in the challenge, clever! The light gives it the impression the spotlight is on it. Scorpion dance on stage :-)

The light source appears to have overexposed part of the picture while leaving some of the picture underexposed. Also, depth of field seems to be a little too shallow, the legs at the top of the picture and the tail (stinger?) are out of focus.
