Greetings from the Critique Club.
To be honest, this image does not represent darkness to me. The fact that the sky is still somewhat blue and that there is a light shining on the left side of the frame is not helping. Perhaps it would have worked better if you had cropped the light out. The colors are nice but I don't really think it meets the challenge very well. Maybe next time you should try filling the frame a bit more with your subject. If you have any questions or comments about this critique please feel free to PM me.

Sorry for the form-letter type commentary. I̢۪m going to try to give almost everyone at least this breakdown to start. I would be happy to offer a more detailed opinion if you would like, though I don̢۪t consider myself a very knowledgeable photographer.
Here is how I broke down my score for your submission.
Content: 2/4 (Is the subject compelling? Does the choice of content match the challenge?)
Composition: 1/2 (Is the work well balanced and successful?)
Color/Light: 2/2 (Is light and or color used with skill and artistic intent?)
Clarity: 0/2 (Is the picture in focus? Are the elements clear?)

Maybe a little closer would have been better? |

The best way to have a guys night out. A Fridge, shed, large back yard and some hops. |

This kinda looks like you were spying on your neighbours - could you have gotten a little closer so we could see what they were up to? |

Color is the striking feature of this image. Nice RGB (Red, green, blue). Blacks are decent. Obviously darkness means an evening conversation likely triggered by events of the day to you. That might seems obscure to some voters and they will be wondering what the conversation is about. The setting was most important to you when taking the picture but a lot of viewers would like to see the peopple closer and see the expressions on their faces and better understand what they are doing there. The wire across the sky is a distraction. The amount of lawn in the foreground may be more than needed. Image quality is decent. |

Something a bit 'Edward Hopper' about this. Intriguing. Love the extra saturation. |

Great photo - must be a good camera (and a good photographer!) The light, color and quality is so good, that I find it hard to associate the photo with "darkness". Good luck with the voting. |
