That's a great picture, magnetic. Congrats. To be honest, i smelled a good Canon here - thought it was by the new Dutch user with his 1D. The dof you can get with the 10D, D60, and 1D is just incredible.

The most unique tulips photo I've seen so far in this challenge (and I have just over 30 minutes to vote on about 50 photos...). I love the way you used selective focus to make that one flower stand out from all the rest. 10 from me!

Wonderful picture, but the focal point I believe is in the wrong point. I would have preffered to see it on the red flower as that is generally where the eyes go to first to that position. There seem to be too much space between the foreground purple flower and the red flower. Love the colors though! Has this been retouched?

Selective focus and color really make this pop! Wonderful.

Very nice color. We have a tulip festival here in Holland,MI. Was that where this was taken? I like how you have the one in the front in focus, and the background nicely blurred. the angle and framing/cropping are great. I like how the front one is in the bottom left and the flowers get more frequesnt the farther into the photo they go. Great color! ~Heather~

Very colorful. I like the arrangement and the single "black" tulip in focus. Very nice work. Easy 9. Rob the Swash

Man you really brought those colors out well! This is a beautiful pic and the shallow DOF works particularly well here, choice!

The colors on this are great. I like the way you lead with the one blue one in the very front, but why not the yellow one? The blue one just seems a little small, not that I hate blue or anything. Good luck!

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! I love the two front flowers, purple and its complimentary yellow. That purple tulip is so alive. Dof is superb. And so are the colors, they are warm, rich, and lively and none of them clash. 10 Journey

What a perfect choice to have just the one purple tulip in focus!! It is a beauty.
I love the colors. I especially like the lighting on the purple tulip. Perfectly done.

Nice color. Great subject seperation. You stayed with the theme and definition of flora, and not some store bought prop or studio photo. Nice shot!

The colors are beautiful, but I really would rather see more of them in focus. The purple one up front is real fine.
04/22/2003 07:17:46 PM
interesting composition. i like the color, even though ive not seen purple tulips before. i wouldn't have thougt about having just one in focus. thanks for the headsup. very nice

I would have preferred the purple flower in focus be more toward the middle of the photo.

phenomenal focus and use of shallow depth of field... this flower is pristinely sharp :) - setzler

I really like the colours you've managed to capture here, but I would have prefered the in focus flower just a tad bit higher in the frame.

This is the best tulip shot of the contest, imo. Beautiful color scheme, perfect exposure, good choice on where to place your focus and balance it with a short dof. The overall image really conveys the feeling of being in a field of tulips in Holland. Congrats! 10

The colors here look like a Kodak or Fuji commercial. Fantastic. I do think the focus is a little soft, maybe more dof for something like this. The background here is something we want to see more of. Great color.

Wouldn't it be more eye-catching if the subject is the centre, the red one in the middle is a big eye sore. nice composition and colours.

I think maybe it would have been better if the focus point was a little higher in the picture. As it is, my eye has to hunt for it. Very pretty though. Love the colors.

Nice Photo, but my instinct tells me it would have been better to have the center red tulip in focus instead of the purple in the foreground?? Still a very nice photo with excellent colors. Good Job

LOVE how the one in the left hand corner is the only flower in focus, this makes the photo more interesting then everything being in focus... I wish you would have gotten down a little more but this is still a cool photo. Very colorful and pretty... nice job... I wouls have maybe cropped some off the top to the top of the second red tulip but still a very nice photo!

Lovely, was looking for more natural shots for this challenge, though. 8 based on quality of photo.

Very interesting to have only that one flower in focus. Would work better if that one purple flower were against just green - no yellow and red sharing the foreground. Even then, I'm not sure it holds together as a composition for me. Neat idea though.

The purple flower is beautiful and I like the sharp focus on it but the other out of focus flowers are distracting.
