I took this picture looking up a tree. Please, if you choose to comment on the photo try to focus on aspects of the picture other than size and pixels because my current software wont let me make this picture very large or clear. I know that it could be bigger. What I need advice on is the composition itself. Thanks.

Greetings fromt the Critique Club
Hi Taylor!

Composition
You mostly wanted compositional thoughts, so here are mine: the perspective is unique - coming from a low angle up is good. But in this case, it left the very bright background behind a darker subject. The subject then becomes harder to see. My view of your subject is that little tuft of green stuff? Get closer! Show us its character.

Color
I think the natural light and your camera overexposed this shot. If it were not against a sky background, however, it would look more saturated and natural.

Focus
The focus on this shot is actually EXCELLENT. I wouldn't have changed this.

Lighting
A bit bright, harsh light - maybe try shooting the same subject a few hours earlier or later in the day to take away the harshness?

Subject matter
A great example of flora. I just wish it was closer and larger.

Overall
You say you have the DiMage 7 but that you can't get larger shots than this? Something doesn't match up to me. Either way - get closer to the subject, try to eliminate the harsh reflections and good luck in future challenges!

Pretty. It's hard to see what's going on because the photo is small, but I like the feeling of being in a forest on a sunny day.

Small picture: you ought to figure out how to make it bigger, then these wonderful leaves would be larger and easier to judge. I love the contrasts between the small leaves and the bark.

hard to really see what's happening as the various details all sort of merge together in color and busy-ness.

The picture is rather small and that combined with the bright background makes it hard to pick out the main subject. A tighter crop/shallower DOF might have helped here.

I like the idea for this photo a lot. I think the vine that's creeping up would show a bit better with a tighter crop.

Your photograph suffers from lack of a focal point and generally being small. I think this would've been an intriguing macro had more of the sky/background foliage been cropped out and had you used the full available dimensions.

Probably what you're suffering from most, though, is a popular "What IS that?" Without a focal point, my eye wanders around this picture without finding anything to settle on. Check the tutorial on the rule of thirds- once you get a feel for that, the pictures start to pop.

I believe that having this photo a little larger would make it stronger... is that poison ivy? :) - setzler

Really nice idea - pity about the size of this image. Is this a macro? It has that incredible depth of field feeling - but I'm not sure it's really helpful here - a touch more definition in the canopy of the trees would be nice.

Interesting perspective! The main subject is fully in focus and placed in the lower right corner following the rule of thirds, good.

A little confusing
