 This is a section of Interstate 40, east bound near the TN/NC border. It collapsed after intensive flooding of the Pigeon River during Hurricanes Francis and Ivan.

The river is approximately 150 - 200 feet down from the road, but during the flooding, it was so strong and high, it simply washed the mountain out from under the road, so they are literally rebuilding the mountain to put the road on.

This was taken while driving through the gorge at about 70 mph. I had the camera on full auto and held it out the window as we went through. I couldn't see the viewfinder or LCD, so I was shooting blind. The other one I considered entering actually shows a little tiny spot of the river. In reality, the river is so far down, it is not even obvious that it is the Pigeon.

this picture does not tell me anything, I see that there is construction going on, but what and why is not clear. the OOF cone in FG on L draws too much attention. better luck next time.

I think you did a great job trying to frame this image....I can see the "struggle" you through to get the important elements in the frame without stepping in to the road. Three complete trail trucks would have been better than 4 with one being cut off by the edge....good try though and keep up the with the "struggle". 5

theres kinda not enough consturcting in this picture for me. maybe id like it more if there were some construcion vehicles or something.
