Damn.. My predictions are HOT.. I predicted 6.0 - 6.2 for Silhouettes II and got a 6.2.. and now 5.2 - 5.5 and got a 5.2! I ROCK
I didn't predict a score for my Naturally Framed entry though.. and dunno if I will for "Birds".. but hey, at least I'm beginning to understand DPC a bit better. lol.
As for this entry.. wow.. 21 comments.. I wasn't expecting that.
Beagle, I saw the white speck after the challenge had started, but to be honest, if people are really looking that closely and are that concerned with an image being *THAT* bloody flawless.. fuck em. I don't need a high score that bad.
Anyway, someone said I should stop swearing..
NAAAAHHH!! |

Cool shot. I think seeing the bottom of the galss isn't necessary as the top of the glass clearly shows what we are looking at. There seems to be a little white speck on the upper left edge of the glass. Could have been easily cleaned up (clone or healing brush). The image also seems to lean to the right a bit. |

Great idea, but you are missing the bottom half of the glass (except the foot). Otherwise the color and the clarity are great! 5 |

I really like this - the image I mean. I love the way it seems to be hovering in mid air.8 |

My husband would have to agree with you on this one. :o) He loves guinness as well ... As far the pic goes, your lighting is unique. I find that I like how the dark part of the glass blends into the dark background, and then I can just pick of the bottom of the glass again. Good job! |

I hate that stuff, but will make sure NOT to let that influence my opinion of your photograph. Great lighting and you certainly paid attention to detail. It's good that the very bottom of the glass is visible again, puts things in their proper perspective. |

Nice. I love how you made the glass part of the dark background. I'm a sucker for simplicity! |

I really like this photo, and the beer as well. Being and advance editing challenge I might have gotten rid of the glass reflection at the bottom and let it fade to black. 9 |

Lol! what a good idea, I like the black on black effect, so that the glass seems to disappear, it would have been good to clone out the bottom (don't know if it's a mojor element or not though) good luck |

Beauty is a subjective thing, I know. In my scoring and comments I'm trying to score based on NOT whether or not I would think a particular subject beautiful, but on whether the photographer has succeeded in creating a beautiful photo. I look for the elements of color, lines, focus and dof interest, lighting, and a certain element of grace and lovlieness. I'm looking for a unique and creative appeal for the highest scorers. The description says to create a photo that makes the viewer think "that's beautiful", so it will undoubtedly be very subjective. (This is what I'm putting at the start of all of my comments, and I hope it is helpful.)
That being said, I like the creative take on the subject. Might be more appealing with a few drips down the side or some frost on the glass...but I'm not a drinker so I don't know for sure! I would really have liked some more lighting at the bottom of the photo. Good focus and color. |

Yes, such beauty is never overlooked with its rich dark tones and foamy head. |
