ok..

i decided what the heck at the last minute, decided to enter this one.

i took a bunch of shots, couldn't get the lighting right for any. shot indoors, didn't have time to make it to the beach.

used coffee whitener and pepper for the 'sand'.

used a flash diffused with a piece of white paper to avoid flash burnout. changed to b/w, sharpened to the point where the photo is grainy. heck, it is 'granular.'

this probably will do badly, but i kinda like the concept so phooey. :-)

I'm a sucker for glass bottles, corks and grain ... I'd like to see the whole bottle and the shell doesn't seem to help (unless it's intended for context) but it's not distraction enough to stop this from being at least an 8. Well done.

there seems to be alot of static (noise) for me. i like the simplicity of this photo.7

I have to say good try! I like that it's in greyscale, and the bottle being full of sand and shells is neat, but the bottle resting atop a big scallop shell is a little much. Also I think the shot would have had more impact if the bottle was pretty beat up, though not everyone wants to mangle their bathroom decor :P
