Lovely glowing shot. I love the softness yet it has a very rich quality. Nicely done.

We have luna moths in VA too (and I was just able to capture one a few days ago - on camera). Fantastic display of colors and composition. As several other people have said, I think that if you could have been able to remove the additional glass in the upper right it would have helped your score. You still received an 8 from me.

Also, I'm curious as to how you achieved the similar magenta color on the edge of the moth, as I don't recall them having that particular color at all. Don't get me wrong - it's brilliant that you were able to bring it out! I'm just jealous that I haven't seen one so remarkable. :-)

Thanks again for sharing such a unique and insightful perspective in your photography. I hope you don't take it the wrong way, but I feel a certain kinship to someone else in the mid-atlantic area of the country!

Keep it up!

Jimmy

I believe it's called a "Luna" moth.

wow great color and interesting idea. I feel that the vibrant colors and the dark background work very well with eachother. I must admit however that while I fully recognize what I am looking at I have no idea whatsoever of its signifigance or symbology. I get a feeling that there is somthing to this shot that I am missing. Overall very nice shot that ios pleasant to look at. 7

Lovely shot - particularly the colours, but (I think, anyway :P ) the black edging and the glass in the background detract from the image somewhat.

Impressive moth, but the vinette is both unpleasant and off-center.

Beautiful butterfly. Real or silk? Improved DOF on the granules would get a much improved score.

Do you live in the jungle?!?!?! I've NEVER seen a moth like THAT!!! Is it a specimen or a real live bug? Amazing how the colour of the bath salts is echoed in the moth, if it's alive, not so amazing if it's a specimen. The only thing that detracts from this shot is the other empty glass, though your vingette probably got rid of more major distractions.

Unique shot! Great coloring. I'm not sure I know what I'm looking at though. 8

a very unusual picture, it has a lot of atmosphere( unusual for the moon)

I barely noticed the granules because of a little out of focus I gues and lack emphasis on the subject. but the colors are great.

This was one of those once in a lifetime shots. I love the pink edging light on the moth. I don't know how you got this one. I'd really like to know.

Did you put sugar on top? Such a beautiful butterfly, but she's taking my mind of the grainy thing.

WOW - what a beauty - it's a shame that the shadow hides a lot of the granular material - one solution might have been a crop 7
