This was always going to be a tough challenge to enter and I don't think this shot will cut it, however, I love it, especially the precise angle of his beak. The lighting was perfect to catch this fellow just "chilling out" waiting for the boats to come back with the scraps for breakfast !

Fantastic perspective - so perpendicular! The colors are a hair washed out, but outstanding job. (9)

good subject. fill in flash for better bird image, don't chop off his head feathers, and cropping for image of the eye would add emotion and soul.

The lighting is indeed very nice. The "pose" and framing are also quite good. Two little nitpicks: 1) the fuzzy head is clipped, but not enough to make it look intentional, and 2) the photo seems hazy - this may be intentional, in which case please ignore the rest. If it was inadvertant, there are two ways I can think to unhaze it: 1) boost saturation and contrast, or 2) defog with USM settings roughly 25/60/4. HTH.

The lighting is very harsh on the bird, and he is white so that makes it a whole different ballpark for exposure. Keep at it though!

Nice detail on the feathers, I wish that you hadn't cut the top of his head off. 6

I like the lighting and purple background. Nothing to do with the photo, but the bird's eye is kind of freaky.

Strange looking eye ball. Good macro.

Great capture! His pose is really accentuated by your composition of the photo. The soft colors really emphasize the lighting as well.

The lighting itself is fabulous. I'm not wild about the shift to magenta in the sky, and I hate the truncation of the pelican's head. But very well seen.
