I have been thinking for a few days what “granular” subject would catch my attention. All the clichéd thoughts have come to mind, as I am sure they have come to yours. This morning, about 7:00 AM, the answer stared me in the face and grabbed my attention. Lord save me from yet another cliché!
Part of my morning rituals is a bowl of cereal: Cheerios is de rigueur at the moment. And my least favorite part of the box is at the end when you pour the cereal into the bowl and get a mound of “cereal dust” to go with the cereal.
This was MY cereal this morning, in MY bowl, on MY placemat, on top of MY table. I HATE cereal dust!

Funny image. The spoon and cup seem to be cropped at a awkward spot. I might have preferred if you isolated the bowl and spoon.

I hate it too! Great idea. I would have preferred to have seen either more or less of the coffe mug; same for the bowl & spoon. But great pic nonetheless!

I know this is weird but I think you should have filled the cup with milk (it slightly draws the eye into the cup right now) and maybe a solid color placemat. possibly even a tighter crop leaving only 1/4 of the cup? Nice photo... clever too :0)

Love your title. The one thing you might have done is have the dust more in the light. Just turning the bowl would have reconfigured the shot and placed the light on the dust. You might have also tried to lock your focus on the cereal. I think the camera focused more on the placemat.

don't care for photographer's reflection in the spoon and maybe would have put another light to the right to light up the bowl on the left side a bit more
