I've been trying forever to catch this bird, and I finally got a chance. I crept up behind a bush and fired away- not realizing I had accidentally set the camera to shutter priority (1/13 second) and ISO 800. Ewwww. :-(

I realized the blunder in time to catch a few shots anyway.

Just wanted to say I have been trying to capture a shot of one of these lovely woodpeckers for three years. Had a chance about 2 weeks ago, but I couldn't get my camera set up in time before it scooted. I am always on the lookout though. Hope when and if I get a shot of one of them, it will be half as good as this one. You did a really nice job on it.
