 this is Kasey Kahne crossing the finish line for the first NASCAR Nextel Cup win of his career. as he had accumulated a incredible number of runner-up finishes, it was only a matter of time before he broke through. he did it with what fellow indianan tony stewart called a 'perfect race.'

how i got this shot

i got lucky! jeff gordon's 24 car had something break in its suspension system beyond the crews ability to repair it. since they were done early, they packed up their pit stall, leaving it open for those with media credentials to use for getting close to the track. as luck would have it, gordon's pit stall was almost directly across from the start-finish line!

I would like to know how you can take a split second pic like that.. must be in the eye. Fabulous work, you do not have to stand back for any professional. great work.

I get a buzz just looking at this one and the pit stop one. I can't imagine how you felt at those moments.

Its hard to believe but he finally won! That was the best race with him staying in first the intire race... Its even better you were there to catch a magnificent shot! Love it!
