Really awesome! I love the subtle, dark lighting... The white balence looks like it might need a tiny bit of adjusting - the highlights on the apple are sort of yellow instead of white. But otherwise this is pretty cool. I love the black background! |

Greetings from the Critque Club!!!
Initial impact: Now that's a neat idea for an apple.
Color: The colors on the brighter part of the image are very nice. The color is also on the toothpicks. I feel that I might have gone a little more to the side of excess with the title and concept you were going for.
Focus: Very crisp image with a good Depth of Feild(DOF). I could not ask for more is this area.
Lighting: Well her I must admit is probably the rougherst part of the photo. You would wan't a black background behind a super Nova so if you used to much back lighting you were goind to lose the infinate darkness in the background. To little back lighting and your nova fades into the backround. I feel in this case you went a bit to dark on the apple. I think this would have worked better for you if the lighting had come from three directions. Front, rear top, and rear bottom, Thsi would have given the apple a more defined border and some richer colors. Unfortunately you would ahve had to use a rather large black bacround to avoid washing out you blacks.
Concept: Very very cool idea. I like this one it shows greative tyinking and courage to experiment and play.
Overall: Very nice photo I had given this one a six while voting. I honestly feel that with better lighting this could have bean a very strong contender for a ribbon. Excellent shot. I hope this is just the first of many to come.

I like the nearly suspended look of the apple. The light on the toothpicks is interesting, especially on the bottom. Doesn't look like it is sticking in the apple at all. |

with that title I expected some brilliant light coming from behind it not the very dark image I see. Good idea and setup but see if some brightness adjustment could help. |

Can't say it's creative. But it's done ok. Thechnicaly there is something about the light or the colours that seem to make the image pale / flat. I like the fact that these spikes create a sord of a square around the apple. Overal it's a moderate image. Not bad but not crushing. I like it. 5 |

This was a very good idea for the challenge and I like the title. Two things that let the image down is the fact that it is tilted slightly which is a minor detail and secondly and more importantly the overall image seems to be a bit too dark. But I do like it and hope you do well with it. |
