Hello from the Critique Club!!!

Composition:

This picture could have made more of an impact if you had not centered it, or maybe changed the angle.
Shooting this angle caused the fence to blend into the bricks. The roof lines with the darker color add some interest as does the vents down the centers. This building has some very interesting lines and contrast and you should think about going back and trying different angles and lighting.

Background/ Foreground

The sky is perfect, good focus, for this picture a more foreboding sky would make a stronger statement.

Camera Work:

As far as the technical aspect of the picture the shot has great focus and DOF.

Post-Processing:

I can not comment on your post-processing because you did not include it in the comment field. Including this information helps us see what you have done, and can help teach other users how to use post processing to improve their pictures.

My Opinion:

My guess is that you wanted to make a statement with your picture; this is where lighting and angles come into play. Unless there is a security issue at the prison, I would go back and try this shot again. The bones are there to take a picture that will make an impact.

I hope you find these comments to be helpful, thank you for allowing me to critique your picture. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact me via PM.

Best of luck in your future photographic endeavors, and it looks like congratulations on the new addition to your family.
Also love the picture of Lucky; we have two labs, a chocolate and a yellow, and one day hope to get a beautiful black lab to complete the set.

Regards,
Karen Doss

To me this is just a picture of a building, if is wasn't for the title I wouldn't see the relationship to the theme.
