CRITIQUE CLUB

Challenge: Met the challenge, but the play on words may have turned some people off.

Composition: As clever and creative as this shot it, it does come off a bit flat. Did you use an on-camera flash for lighting? The blue plate adds some nice contrast.

Overall: Very cute idea and a very refreshing change to the pi (pie) competition!

I like it, but I am sure it is not doing very well. The light is a bit bright on the lower right side. Good luck.

Original recipe! Maybe a little underdone or overeposed in the lower-right, but still looks delicious.

I don't find this very attractive. The composition is flat and static, with a centred square. It would be better with a lower angle and shallow DOF to add depth and pull the eyes to a stronger focal point. Parts of the photo are overexposed.

A square pie: fun and clever. I really think the round plate behind adds to this image a lot by referring to pi's function in circle building. It seems just a little out of focus.

ok, cute idea. I'm not sure the square pie on the round plate works though, nor the blue of the plate.

nice play on words, and the pie looks very tempting too.

This looks so good .Even though it is a "pie" you certainly conform to this topic. It is my personal favorite.

Kavey Critique

Initial thoughts
Cute idea – nice red berries.

Composition/ Content
I really like the square crop and the inclusion of the circular plate behind. It̢۪s a nice abstract shape to have a square and circle intersecting within the larger square of the image.
The light is just a tad harsh – it’s blowing out the edges of the tinfoil and some of the lighter areas of crust.
Also – did you use any kind of polarizing filter? I am wondering whether that would cut down on glare from the pie gelatin surface.

Background
Nice clean white.

Fits The Challenge
I think so – it’s a humourous take but one that does also include that circle.

My Opinion On The Photo
Fun and nicely composed though not an image I̢۪d necessarily look twice at outside of this challenge.

A bit overexposed on the lower right. Looks tasty but doesn't meet the challenge for me. 4
