I wasn't going to submit to this challenge until Sunday afternoon at about 12:45pm...
Saturday started off great, my number 1 model (my five year-old daughter Ashley) and I went out Mother's day shopping and spent too much.
She was an exceptional little girl!!
We had a perfect Daddy and me morning as we planned our activities for Sunday's family barbeque (lots of games, how we were going to give Mommy her gifts, etc.)
For the afternoon, her best friend (Danika) and and her nanny took Ashley to the Bowmaville Zoo, while Mommy and I did some cleaning for Sunday's festivities. It was mentioned that they may go to Kids Zone (play gym for the little ones) after the zoo and we decided that that was okay.
At 6:15, the doorbell rang and as I opened the door, my princess was crying, with her right shoe and sock off, hobbling on her left foot. She had a little accident at Kids Zone and had landed funny on her foot. Looking at the swelling on the top of her foot, I said to my wife that it looks like she fractured it or maybe tore some tendons. She was in a great deal of pain as we tried to understand how the incident happened.
After 4.5 hours at Emergency, we learned that she did indeed crack a bone in her foot and that she needed to be in a cast for 4-6 weeks. We were all devastated.
After a lot of crying and trying to console our daughter that things were not going to be that bad, she finally calmed down and went to bed.
Sunday she woke up in great spirits and we fumbled through some some errands and on our return home, this idea popped in my head.
All the activities she planned to play with her cousins and neighbours kids now left her on the outside.
I explained to Ashley that I wanted to take this picture and she thought it was a cool idea. I'll post some outtakes after the challenge to show you that she wasn't as upset as I have tried to convey in the image.
She is a trooper and my little hero!!!

Nice subtle use of DOF to keep the other kids very slightly clear while maintaining good focus on the subject. Here's hoping the injury that leaves her(?) out of action is soon healed and little more than a memory. Assuming the toning was meant to be in keeping with the 'mood' intended, I think you could have given it just a bit more contrast without losing the message. All in all, well done. |

I like this, but the color bothers me, take the blue down, add a little more red and play with the curves to add some tonal range. |

Capture the view of looking in from the outside.... and that is exactly what you have achieved.
I am half way through voting, and this stand out for uniqueness and originality of idea. The B/W helps in the isolation theme... well done |

The choice to do this in black and white helps to create the mood of this image. Very nice job! |

Perfect fit for the challenge. I haven't seen one with this concept yet, and it's such a strong concept to convey for "outside looking in". Great job! |
