Challenge: Late Night (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Canon EOS-20D
Location: 20,000 ft above New York
Date: May 1, 2005
Aperture: 3.5
ISO: 3200
Shutter: 3/10
Galleries: Landscape, Panoramic
Date Uploaded: May 2, 2005

This is a photo of New York City at approx 20,000-30,000ft while travelling approx 450mph. One of the most difficult aspects of this shot is the speed of movement.

Holding still in such a shot is ineffective as within the 3/10ths of a second the plane has moved dramatically. Sadly, the clarity is not as good as what the natural eye.

If anyone has any advice on taking these type of shots I'd love for you to share. I don't expect this one particular shot to do all that well in the challenge but I decided to enter it just as a curiosity.

Too bad this isn't up to size, cause it looks like it could be a very cool shot otherwise...

This could have been a great picture if you'd have given it a chance of showing some detail. Submit larger images! //www.dpchallenge.com/tutorial.php?TUTORIAL_ID=26

Damn I would have really liked to see this clearly. The image is so small, but even so I can see that it is blurry also. Great opportunity and view.

Full allowable size and more clarity would have this shot a winner...

Cool idea. Pity it isn't 640x480. (Check out Tutorial on Using Photoshop to Prepare Photos for DPC Challenges: //www.dpchallenge.com/tutorial.php?TUTORIAL_ID=26

this would make a really cool large print - but it's hard to tell at this size if it's even in focus or what.

Try a higher resolution. A shot like this begs for a panorama, I think.
