 Taken with the aid of my +7 macro ring.

I feel like any bug macro shot is effectively a tribute to Jacko... but I submit it anyway ~_~

This guy landed on a beanpole in my back yard this afternoon, wings still wet from the pupa... so he was a very patient model as I took some hundred pictures of him. This was the best that showed off his happy lil buggy face.

I should have used a smaller aperture- it would have been nice to get more of the dragonfly in focus. But I didn't think of that.

Oh man...I loved this! The expression is priceless. I really thought it would place higher! It cracks me up every time I look at it because he looks like he's really grinning!

I gave this a 10!

great shot you macro maniac ! this is just great, the wings are so detailed and selective focus is on point. I dont know why I just dont go and buy myself a Macro lens. I will look at your images in the future to compare mine to.

Everytime I look at this guy, I go through a number of moods/emotions... I am fascinated, repulsed, amazed, intrigued etc...... but I always end up smiling with him/her. Awesome closeup - detail, light and colors are stunning.

Nice DOF. I like the detail on the wings. I was going to mark this down because dragonflys can't smile, but it really does look like this one is.

Hehehehe, I was about to discard this one as just another 'shoehorned into the challenge shots' but then I caught this guys expression - You can't see that and not smile. Happyness indeed. I wish the block thing wasn't there to interfere with the composition, but this is still a solid 8.

At first, I thought "great... another insect shot", but upon closer examination it really does look like he's smiling! LOL Exceptional clarity & content. Talk about an eye for detail! VERY well done! (9)

It's a happy face allright...but the big question is about whether or not we (humans) truly know what other animals feel despite physical signals they emit. Just because they show tears doesn't mean they're said, etc, etc, etc. But I digress, this is a very nice shot and I'll do it a 10.
