| Great B&W work, the only problem i have with it is that while the subject-matter says depression, the execution of the picture is very beautiful. this is the rare photograph that has grabbed my attention and won't let it go, i imagine because of the lines, good job. |

| Wow, I hear ya, and agree. I think you've really captured the challenge with this shot. Not only does it show a depressive mood, it kindof puts me in one as well. This stark black and white is very wonderfully done. GL! |

It's gratifying to see someone use the challenge to make a powerful point. It may well be a natural forest fire, but most of them are man made. Worse still it good be an eroded climate or man-made destruction.
Whatever the story, not only is this a great photo (technically and aesthetically) it is also a supreme piece of photojournalism and indeed a depressing one. I share your mood at this scene and hope you win this challenge. [10] |

| I think this a beautufl image and definitely portays a mood but I think devastation may have been more accurate than depression. Good luck! |

| I just don't feel "depression" from these trees.. it looks like natural deadfall, and not some kind of depressing situation.. and for me, the challenge is about showing moods from your subjects, not evoking moods from the viewer. |

| Very nice, has a very sad feel to it so this definately fits the challenge IMO. Love the composition and tones in this image, has a distinctive "Ansel Adams" feel to it and think this would have done well there. |

| Very dramatic. Since I absolutely LOVE the forrests and trees, a scene like this always does depress me. I think you made a good choice of conveying a depressive emotion. |

Although I don̢۪t say this is a bad picture I have scored this low.
Low in my book is not extremely low, but I guess there will be other people thinking the same way I do who don̢۪t leave a comment.
Don̢۪t take this the wrong way, this is my own opinion, and I am trying to let you understand what some voters may think.
In my opinion this does not meet the challenge, the description of the challenge: Take a picture that captures an emotion.
I looked hard, but I don̢۪t see an emotion. This could be my fault, but that̢۪s the reason why I voted lower as I would normaly do.

| Very out of this world image. It's beautiful and I want to stare at the this image for a few minutes, but it gets depressing as I start to look around. Most excellent work. |

| This is very good. A different interpretation of emotion because it reflects back at the users emotion. That is a plus and minus. I can see to many living thins around to convey true depression. To many objects give it a scattered feeling, would of been better for me if it were the tree right of center compared against the rest of th trees. The whites seem to strong vs the Grays and stand out. This is all my opinion after all. I think this would of been better in colour with a single target for the emotional aspect. 6. |
