I don't know how this comes out on everybody elses computer, but for mine it is really dark. I like it alot this way. Im hittin on an 8 right now, but only because I save the 9 and 10's for in the final review. GL, magnificent.

I like the subtleness of the greys and blacks. Good job! 8

i guess my vision isnt as good as yours..its too dark
05/10/2005 07:22:32 AM
so dark... can't see very much here. Did you use a tripod? Perhaps photoshoping a bit and playing with brightness/contrast and perhaps bumping up the blue saturation would help give you a more defined sky?
05/10/2005 04:19:00 AM
sorry - can barely make anything out..
05/10/2005 01:57:38 AM
Totally black on my monitor....
05/09/2005 03:38:54 PM
It was a very good subject idea, but it's too dark...maybe if you took it a little earlier or faced west while there was still a liitle light left over from the sunset to give it more light-dark contrast?

I really like the darkness of this. Unique take on this challenge.
05/08/2005 06:34:10 AM
sorry, too dark
05/07/2005 08:54:07 PM
I would have lightend the Windmil just a little more
05/07/2005 01:15:47 PM

05/06/2005 11:55:35 PM
a little too dark for my tastes.
I actually thought it was totally black
good luck anyway

Interesting. Good attempt.
05/05/2005 07:34:57 PM
Hmm... could use a better title, right?

It's a good thing I can see the dark end of the scale, bold shot for a challenge. I have to say I like it 8

Hey there was another one just like this about 20 photos back.
05/05/2005 01:39:44 PM
not exposed long enough
05/05/2005 11:56:13 AM
Oooh... maybe I should change my monitor. I see nothing in this pic.
05/05/2005 10:19:03 AM
I think you have an amazing picture, very well composed, and with a nice subject. The only problem is that it is too dark... (thats how I see it). A higher exposure and maybe more constrast would have bumped this to a 9 or 10. Good job, anyway.

interesting dark on dark shot
05/05/2005 09:31:40 AM
Nice. I like the "black on black" look.
05/05/2005 08:35:05 AM
Very difficult photo to record. This must be remaining last light after sunset. Good effort.

Just a little too dark.

good capture, border definitely helps a low-key picture like this. I'd be interested to see it with a brighter background, though i'm not sure i would prefer it that way.

A longer exposure perhaps?

Very subtle image.

nice photo, but "risky". I just wonder what percentage of voters will see the mill

My video monitor is calibrated for gamma 2.2 and this image is so dark that the windmill is not distinguishable. I downloaded the image and used a levels adjustment to view the photo. Not too bad! Try adjusting your monitor brightness and gamma to be more in conformance with the norm and you will get better results. Hope this helps.

I'm honestly not sure about this image. A part of me wants to like it because it's a clear silhouette, and because it's not something that I'm likely to encounter again in the challenge. But at the same time, I'm just a bit bothered by the monotonality of it. I'll rate this a 6, but that's because I'd rather err on the positive side.

you're probably going to get a lot of "too dark" comments. but this feels completely intentional to me and i like it a lot. i think you nailed the challenge. 10

a little to dark, intersting subject though.
05/04/2005 05:10:15 AM
I would like to know how you took this image as there appears no light source. (not even stars in the sky) I think it stands out from most of the other images that I have seen in this challenge. But feel it is much to dark. 5.

kinda hard to see the windmill
05/03/2005 09:06:15 PM
touch too dark
05/03/2005 08:39:21 PM
To see the darkness, you need light for the eye to compare it

would have been a superb photo if there was a bit more contrast btwn the sky and the windmill
