This was a really fun one. I created this shot using a pretty basic setup; a piece of paper in front of a window, and me going a bit crazy with some black acrylic paint (though you can't really tell in this particular shot). I wish I could have made the foreground sharper, but hey, what can ya do?

-------------------------------------------------------------
1.rotate
2.convert black&white
3.brightness +9
4.contrast +13
5.sharpen
6.add border

I like the shallow DOF along the angle of the droplet, but the softness of the foreground looks a little over-processed. 6

Beautiful dof and grain in the wood. I would like to see a little less contrast showing the bounce-up reflection on the darkside of the drop, without heating up the light side and the wood too much.

Very nice, is it ink or blood!

This would be more effective with a larger depth of field, the blurred wood up front is awkward.

Ink?, Coffe?, Blood? Feels like it will leave a stain. Certain evokes a feeling, but not sure I like it so much visually.

Very interesting DOF -- how it's out of focus upto and including a tiny sliver of the drop and then snaps into focus.Nice detail.

The top right corner takes away from the pic (imo). I'm not sure what I'm looking at, so the right corner isn't helping me figure it out. I think this might work better if the wood (?) made up the whole picture (more abstract).

I like this thought I would have used a smaller aperature.

I am not sure what this is, and the OOF object in the back is rather distracting.

Minimal yes, but doesn't have the simple elegance I associate with minimalism.

nice photo - good lighting. Angle is excellent the four holes could be distractions - especially top left, as they are just out of focus and I spent a seond figuring out what they were.

Nicely presented with choice of DOF and angle. Leaves the possibilities of what this might be to the interpretation of the viewer.
