 This is not staged. Sometimes reality is more absurd than any fiction.

I saw this glove with a piece of see weed floating around the harbor and was overwhelmed.

The sun was setting and there was not much available light. This was shot handheld at 1/10 at ISO 400. I did some shots with a tripod with smaller aperture at ISO 100 but the movement of the glove and sea made it too blurry.

I CANNOT believe this picture placed where it did...this should be at the top, this is just so wrong. This is a truly wonderful picture in every way...and some of the comments just don't make a shread of sense...some seem so nitpicky and not very enlightened...this is wonderful ARTISTIC picture. Keep up the AWESOME work. : }

Musta been one of them harbor-orthidontist mermaids, because typically they wear hockey gloves (its a cultural thing)

I've had this parked in 6.0 while I try to make up my mind whether I love it or hate it. That's a very strange hand. For the longest time I was reading it as the reflection of a hand on the prow of the boat, a painted hand; now I think it's a latex glove floating by, which of course is TRULY odd. Regardless, the image keeps me coming back so I'm rewarding it with a 2 point bump.

The red at the top grabs to much attention from the glove as I see it but the idea is absolutely fantastic.

This is really nice...fits the challenge perfectly. The little ripples on the water are so pretty. The contrast of the bright aqua glove against the black is perfect....and the bright red at the top, a nice bit of warmth and tension.

Do mermaids wear latex examination gloves? I love the color contrast of the boat (?) hull and water. Those create a strong image. The glove detracts from the image in its incongruity. Solid photo.

Wish the glove did not have the weed on it, but that could not be helped. The color and shadow make a good impact in this photo. The subject stands out well.
