Thank you for playing the "closest to 5" game today! With 125 5's the voters are pushing the limits of the web page widths. (Ok. I'll admit I was one of those...but I don't remember why.)

What I love about photography is that it begs us to notice juxtapositions. It entreats us to place things to complete our vision (philosophy?) of objectiveness. If it weren't for the "minimalism" concept of the challenge, you might have played up the contrasting textures...the sense of life and dust...the dark and the light...the grit and the softness of the petals. I think you have a topic worth re-visiting in a future image.

you left a comment on my challenge entry a little while ago, so I thought I would return the favor on this picture!!!!!
Anyway, I like this picture a lot.
The flower seems too over exposed and the dirt around the flower looks like it has been freshly dug, I think that if the dirt was uniform it would have slightly more impact.
The compocition is great though.
Maybe you could try reshooting this, but just using some colored poster board as your background.
Actually, that sounds like quite a good idea, I think I may try it.

B&W does a good job of bringing out the textures. The flower seems a bit overexposed though.

Nice take on the challenge, don't quite understand the title, interesting composition.

I like the composition of this photograph. The blossem placed in the upper right hand corner draws the eye to the subject. Perhaps B&W for this shot is best. I find from my experience, large areas of concrete, dirt, just make for uninteresting photos. A sharper focus on the blossem would worked better. IMO. Nice title.

Very nice. Would almost make a Negative space image. The surface is to busy for true minimalism, unless you can see a boundary between the surface and the outer edge. 9

Nice Idea, but the flower seems blown out and the ground is a bit distracting. 5
