 Cut some reeds and photographed them with the sun behind.

I cut a few and took them inside, taped them to the back of a spaeaker near a south-facing window. Put a black backdrop behind to give the contrast. I wish my photoshop skills were better, I would have liked to mask different parts and gotten the brown/black parts of the reeds a little brighter to make them stand out better.

With except for some minor cloning of a few distractions, everything was done with basic editing: brightness/contrast, shadow/highlights, saturation, usm, border, save for web.

This was my second favourite behind that big bird! Should have done better I think. Check out the work of Andy Goldsworthy if you don't know him already: does great natural pieces like this...should be easy to Google. Ben

why didnt I do this?.....I have the same reeds in my pond, actualy I even took a photo of a single one during submission time, but it didnt look great like this. v well done 9

Strikingimage, striking lighting - brings to mind do many things - balconys with plants on apartment buildings..plows making furrows in big fields. Macro tthat makes me think of arge scale similarites . Wonderful 10

excellent composition. what an interesting image. even though it is somewhat non-descript, ya just gotta ask, 'what is there not to like about this?' it's pleasant, easy on the eyes, colorful. i really hope this does well. good luck!
