I went looking for the first signs of spring greening and found this early bud with its the companion thorns.

nice job with the lighting and focus. can't say i'm too keen on the centered composition, though. a bit more of a diagonal, with the bud either closer to the left or right, and this really would have rocked. hope it does well for you. good luck!

A fair attempt at a macro. I would have at least cropped out the thorn sticking out of the edge of the photo in the bottom left. Next time you try something like this, try for a striking and fresh composition. How about trying it with the stem going from the top left corner of the frame across diagonally into the bottom right? The more you play around with creative compostion in-camera, the more fun you'll have and the more striking the image can become.

I love the contrast between the gentle bud and sharp thorns.
I think it would look better if were a bit closer and more on a diagonal angle.
