Desaturated all but the new sprout and adjusted levels on the sprout while I had it selected. Perform some dodging/burning on the desaturated areas (tree).

I'm kinda jaded on the selective desat effect lately cause it's done so often without a true message. This shot however is timeless in it's simplicity!

This is nice. I would really like to see it without the desat to see how well the green stood out against the natural color of the bark.

I like this. the new sprig seems to come out the arms of the old tree, as if it was cradling it. good colourwork in post.prod.

Impressive; the de-saturation - well, it's a trick I don't like. I appreciate the impact, and this one is as good as they come ... but for me it will always remain a cheap way of getting an impact, I'm afraid.
