I think with this title you really need to have the tree and brick in focus. |

Interesting idea, I wish however the tree was little sharper focussed... |

I'd have perferred the brick and roots/limbs be in focus instead of the fence. |

I can see what you are doing here, but in my opinion there is more interesting texture on that part of the building which is blurred, so it could be better. A nice shot though! |

Seems like the focus is not on the main subject (according to your title .....) |

The focus is on the boards, not the brick and trees. It kind of looks like a tree is growing out of the building, but it's just too hard to tell. You have good color saturation though and nothing is burned out. |

Except for the focus, I like this a lot. I would rather see the tree roots than the fence. |

i think you got the wrong DOF... i'd preferred to see better the roots |

Hmm. my vision seems to be failing. I see no brick and no tree. I see som wooden structure and some stone structure. There's some blurry strands that, if you told me were roots, I'd believe you. There are some subtle hints here that maybe something here was photographically interesting. Old things with texture stones with cracks and the patina of lichens, checked wood, galvanized metal with a good patina, even some stringy tree roots. Unfortunately pretty much everything is out of focus. And to the best of my ability to see, were it in focus the composition would be a little confusing, unfocussed and barely up to meeting the challenge.
For all the negative things that can be said about the photo, I believe that there is a great shot lurking in this collection of parts. That's the hardest part of being a good photographer, IMO - seeing great shots. I hope you will try again. And again until you find it. |

Could have been improved with a much great DOF. Picture is almost hard to look at because of the large, unfocused area. |

the brick and the tree are out of focus. It seems that, because it is in focus, the fence is the subject of the image. I would reshoot with a large depth of field to get the tree and rocks in focus. good spot! |

maybe you shouldve focused more on the brick |

It's very distracting, almost disturbing to have such a large, unfocused, and (from the title) important part of a photo be so out of focus. I likt the texture that I can see in the boards, but I wish I could see more of it... |

Could use a sharper focus. I don't actually see an abandoned building in a brick wall and tree. Maybe if not cropped so tightly. |

Because of the focus on the wood, I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to be looking at. I think I would have preferred it if the focus was on the brick or the tree roots instead. Or perhaps a shot from farther back that encapsulated more of the structure. |
