I decided on a couple of subjects for this challenge and figured I was really gonna give it my best efforts. I did a little research on what events were taking place the weekend during the challenge and found a Rally event in North Wales. After a little hunting for websites that specialise in Rally action photos I decided to email two of the better photographers for any advice on capturing the essence of motorsport, both replied andgace some good tips for the day which I am most grateful for.

After speninding the best part of two hours driving to the location and having my Sat-Nav taking me up undrivable - unpassible roads decided to head back for the nearest B road to find a series of WRC Spec cars having completed there events... Dang ! Parked my car and headed off into the woods to see what was left to find.

Got plenty of shots of the Historic Rally cars but wanted a newer looking car on my submittal photo and decided to wait for the last heat of the rally called 'The Nationals'. there were only 10 or so cars in this and I needed to pull out of the bag what I had learnt in the last few hours. I decided to use my polariser to reduce the glare of the glass to try and see the drivers in the car but light was getting dull and the shots coming out quite dark. Anyhow after a little editing (Levels, new layer for motion blur + the odd bit of dodge and burn ) this is my entry. The only shame is that after editing a few of the others I have better shots but don;t feel that my target audience ( the voters ) will vote as well on older looking cars as the newer faster ones come accross as having more speed impact for the challenge.

Thanks for the excellent comments on this one folks :0)

Little dissapointed that the people who marked 1-3 on this didn't bother to leave any sort of feedback?

I would have cloned out that line that cuts the image in the trees...overall nice blur and just enough clarity on the vehicle

brilliant, I would have liked to see a better focus on the car, but hey - I know it's difficult ;-)
