 300mm at minimum focus, background was the grayish house next door, couldn't avoid over exposed plum blossoms and get the color in the insect the way it looked naturally.

A great capture. If anything, I'd perhaps like to see all the petals in focus, but I guess that would be asking for a bit too much with a close-up such as this. Also, the background seems to have a dark patch at the upper left which is maybe a little distracting.

i'm getting a bit tired of all the butterfly shots, but as far as this genre goes, this is well captured. 7

The butterfly is gorgeous, but you needed a bit more depth of field to keep the flower in focus (foreground). The petals on it also seem to have blown highlights (frame right). Still, a very cool documentary image I'd be happy to have in my portfolio.

excellent work. beautiful colors, great composition. a wee bit blown out (you might consider burning in some of the petals a bit), but all the same, spot-on on the butterfly! good luck!
