Thanks for all of the comments and suggestions. As someone noted, I did get a little lucky on this one, but it wasn't the only bird shot of the day. I probably took 100 or so to get this one.

pity for that black line which is so distutbing. at least it is a great shot that can afterwards be salvaged by a little photoshop, make that line dissappear. 6

Nice capture, you have cought the right moment. The shadows on the top half distract a bit, but dispite that a good shot.

Wow...nice shot! This is a very sharp image. I love birsds and this bird is very pretty. And the background is very neat its just gravel and its very textured.
