Location: Near Louisville, KY on the Ohio River

When Lewis met Clark near Louisville, KY at the Falls of the Ohio River, the expedition began to explore the Missouri River to the headwaters and beyond to the Pacific Ocean. The cloudy day must have been similar to their journey that started in October, 1803. They returned over 2 years later from the trip. This statue commemorates the trip and is located on the banks of the Ohio River near the interpretive center.

Neat statue, the photo needs some attention however. First, it's not level - the image needs to be rotated right to straighten the horizon. Second, it would have been better to reposition yourself to get the tree out of the line of sight instead of directly behind the statue. Repositioning yourself would have also eliminated the bush coming in on the right (or crop it out). The background is very hazy, perhaps shoot with some better light, or if not available make some processing adjustments via levels/curves.

nice idea, but there is far too much blank space around the central element. And the tree growing out of statue's foot distracts. Colours v muted. Very grey background should be minimised.

A good idea for the challenge. The tree in the photo is distracting from the main subjects, I would have taken the shot from a little further to the right so the statues were framed against an open sky.

Not a bad idea, but this is just a "snapshot". Lighting is poor. focus is soft. Horizon is crooked, and the tree is distracting. I think if could have been greatly improved by taking a much closer shot, getting some additional light on the subject, and changing the angle of the shot so the tree is off to one side.

Not sure how this correlates with "In the Beginning..." I mean, I see the discovery and population of the western population of the USA, but it just doesn't seem to go with the category (for me). Otherwise, it's a really cool photo!
