Challenge: Cemetery (Advanced Editing IV)
Collection: Portfolio
Camera: Canon EOS-10D
Location: Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington VA
Date: Mar 27, 2005
Aperture: f/1.8
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/250
Galleries: Black and White, Travel
Date Uploaded: Mar 27, 2005

A humble tribute to those who volunteered or were sent to defend our freddom, and made the ultimate sacrifice in doing so.

Editing was a levels adjustment, channel mixer conversion to black and white, some burning of the trees on the right side, contrast enhancement to the sign and a curves adjustment.

I like the creative choice of subject. Of all the photos I have seen of Arlington, I don't ever recall seeing these signs.

This is such a nice photo. I think it might be better with slightly greater DOF to show the headstones a bit more clearly, though not too much. But other than that, this is a powerful photo that works great for this challenge.

I am making two passes on this Challenge. I will vote on your photo then return later(before voting is over) to comment on what I like and dislike about your shot. You can take the comments however you wish and I will try not to be mean. Just don't take it the wrong way.

The tree to the right is a little distracting to your subject.

Like the idea, but maybe less blurring in the background
