i've noticed a lot of peoples images are over compressed. i know the limit is there but perhaps your over-compressing,

I believe the photo itself should convey more of the bordom. Without the title, we would have no clue. Too much of a stretch.

Setting aside the challenge topic for a moment... skulls can be interesting.
I think your choice of background detracts--and none of that, "but that's where I found it" stuff--it's dead, you can move it. The lighting is flat, there's nothing in the light to help sculpt the 3-dimensional nature of your subject. This could benefit from cropping as well--as is, your subject just might be the grass.
Now, the challenge topic, do I really have to tell you you're pushing it? Funny, though. You'll find a good use for your sense of humor and quirky way of seeing the world in future challenges, I'm sure.
