Challenge: Lines (Advanced Editing IV)
Camera: Canon EOS-300D Rebel
Location: Christchurch Art Gallery, New Zealand
Date: Mar 13, 2005
Aperture: F/22
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/3
Galleries: Architecture, Black and White
Date Uploaded: Mar 13, 2005

My new cokin filter system came in handy for this shot at the new Christchurch Art Gallery on this warm Canterbury afternoon.

1/3 sec exposure was achieved by stacking a ND4 and Graduated ND2 filter with an ordinary cir-polarizing filter. This is my first real attempt at long exposures in broad daylight.

Last minute entry in the Lines Challenge, I hope it is well received.

- Cloned out some lens flare
- Channel Mixed for B/W conversion (Green channel only)
- Dodge & Burn
- Crop

The composition is just brilliant in this one! There are those pics that you see and skip over - sure it's nice but kind of lacking in places, this is the kind of photo that draws you in and makes you look at it for a long time. Very good.

Cheers Keith, personally I was quite pleased with it, but i guess it didn't meet the challenge as well as others...

Good shadows and a good blur with great lines. Bumping up.

Oh, bu this is wonderfully composed, and a marvellous approach to the challenge. It's complex, graceful, and shows real mastery of the graphic elements of composition. The figures are placed perfectly for the balance of the shot .. but I really wonder about the motion blur ... such a minor complaint though. Excellent.

The people are distracting from the picture.

Nicely don, wonder if the pole on the left is actually tilted or a wide angle is used, nice capture of movement

I really like the lines on the sidewalk & the lines in the building; but that croooked post bugs the hell out of me.

Unfortunately lens flares ruin it for me. Sorry.

I̢۪m sorry but this image does not work for me. It looks to be a good location for this challenge, but the camera location doesn̢۪t show a choherant image. The lighting has caused some over/under exposed areas, early/later in the day may have worked better.
