 A photograph taken of some friends of mine - it is a pose they do at a performance arts event. Taken with my 20D and a 70-200 f/2.8 lens @ 146.0 mm / f/2.8

Taken in Camera RAW (.CR2).

Photoshop: Opened RAW file, increased brightness, darkened shadows. Black and white via the Channel Mixer / Monchrome (see my guide to that here: //kamps.org/g/?cobw ), then cropped and resized, finally saved for web.

A fascinating picture that is very evocotive although I'm not sure that it is surreal. It makes you look and look again. It's a great shot. 8

Very well done. Great use of contrast and shadow. My favorite of this group. Not to sound "sicko" but I would have liked it better had she only had skin - no bra strap (but it's totally understandable).

Interesting. Another concept would have been for one to stand and the other extends arms and feet behind the other. great possibilities. Good b/w with that riddled look. Bumping up.

Great picture. What would have made it a 9 or 10 for me would have been continuing the theme of mutual completeness. For example, the man's head and neck would be disconnected from his arm by the shadow were it not for her arm and upper torso. Perhaps the area from his shoulder or armpit to his hips so that his legs connect to hers, thus forming one continuous lighted region necessarily composed of both their bodies.

I think her bra is too distracting an element and breaks up the continuity.

A solid 8.

I love the picture, but I don't think it fits the challenge. In fact, the feeling of the image is more on the super-real side. Regardless, I like the lighting and the dramatic and passionate feel of the image.

I won't vote 1 on this photo because it's a fantastic shot, but altough I am no expert on style, I can't see any surrealism in this photo. I would have score a 9 or 10 in a more appropriate challenge, but I think it's a 4 in here.
