Alas being car-less really didnt help for this challenge :( Still I'll make do! I used a Grad-filter (tabacco i think) to darken down the sky, but still expose the sand correctly, but then used a fill-flash to pick up the detail on the wood. Once in photoshop made it high constrast B&W and cloned out the shadows from the flash, did a bit of dodging on the sky, but its more or less as it was. Also dodged some of the wood that wasnt lit by my measly flash. The inspiration for this photo was Ansel Adams's "White Branches, Mono Lake, CA, 1950". Really enjoyed this challenge, i hope there are a few more "emulating the greats" coming up

I like the composition and the dramatic sky, but I feel that the driftwood itself is a little too bright in comparison with the rest of the image.

Lovely in many ways, but there's a STRONG sense of foregroudn flash here that's flattening the image badly. The background is murky, not as luminous as it could be,a nd this doesn't help.

Nice job. Wood looks a bit too light, through.

Interesting! (in a good way) Maybe too much burning in the sky!
