Challenge: Ansel Adams (Advanced Editing IV)
Camera: Canon EOS-10D
Location: Home, OH
Date: Mar 3, 2005
Aperture: f 32
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/30
Galleries: Landscape, Black and White

Attempted to capture the 7 zones in one of Ansel Adams forest floor, winter scenes. The evergreens framing a wood pile seemd to fit the type of scene he would photograph (imho). One of the defining charateristics (of many) in an Ansel Adams photgraph is the sharp detail from front to back. I tried to imitate that by using an aperature of f-32. However, I obviously had to compensate with a slower shutter speed. Basically, happy with the results except I would have liked to have more bare wood in the pile exposed to make it clear that it is a wood pile without having to say so in the title.

In Photoshop:
cropped for effect;
desaturated;
sized to 640;
auto contrast adjustment;
sharpened;
saved for the web.

Very good lighting, contrast and sharpness on this difficult range of illumination

I like the framing, but wish that I could see more of the wood pile at the centre.

The snow cover on the woodpile is nice. I also like how the foreground leads you into the main point of the picture. 6

Nice idea, but the framing is a bit over the top.
