 Fairly simple setup. I was going to go with something far, far busier than this--with onions, rice, beans, and mushrooms all exhibiting the same tonal values. In the end, the simplicity and normalcy of the onions won me over.

I learned a lot about lighting on this challenge. I found it particularly difficult to get the background completely white and decided to forego that effort entirely. The suggestion of white seems more important to me than the actuality of it, though I may be wrong about that in the voters eyes.

I expect about a 5.8 on this image. Hope so at least!

Of all the veggie shots, this one wins. The subtle color tones and soft lighting really highlight the features of the onions well and the composition and crop choice is perfect to balance out the negative space on the left. My only major nit is the overly bright (blown?) spot on the main onion... otherwise, very nicely captured. -8-
