Gerbera Daisy on white background. Adjusted Highlight (100), Midtone(95) and Shadow(87) to get the background more white because it had a yellow cast to it. Used PSP9's Auto Saturation to make the daisy pop more. Adjusted brightness (-3) and Contrast (+2). Resized, sharpened and added the border (black 6 pixel, white 1 pixel, black 6 pixel). Taken on my kitchen counter using sunlight and 2 white shelves.

This entry holds sentimental value and it was very nice to see it finish as well as it did. My uncle, Carl Hoffman, chose this photo out of the 100 or so I took for this challenge, as his favorite. The next day (2/26), he was admitted to the hospital. After a few days there, we decided that rather then putting him in a nursing home for the last days of his life, we would bring him home. Everything was set up in one day (3/2) and he was to come home the next afternoon. Unfortunately, he passed away at 2:01 am on March 3rd. I had been avidly watching my score until then. We went right to New Jersey to take care of the funeral arrangements and I missed the end of the voting. It was a wondeful surprise to come home last night and see how well this photo had done. Therefore, I wanted to thank everyone for scoring this so high.

| Nicely done. If the light were better diffused the shadows and overall image would have a softer, smoother look |

| The center and aureola seem to diminish the white petals. The cropping also seems a bit awkward |

| Lovely picture! Funky border. I really do love the flower, but I find the triple border quite distracting... it just draws my eye right out of the picture, especially since the focal point is so close to the edge already. |
