 Canon EF 17-40 f/4 L

Shot with 3 lights. The key light was an Alien Bee B-800 in a 48" softbox laying on the ground to camera right. This is the light that is hitting the subject's legs and the column's base. This light casts shadows upwards and creates some dramatic shading effects. To mitigate the shadows in the face, an opposing kicker was mounted high and slightly behind the subject with barndoors. It was pointed down onto the subject. To help lighten just a few shadows, another softbox was mounted to camera left. This light was moved in until it was almost in the shot and its output was turned down below 1/4 of the key light to help blend some of the shadows without removing them completely.

yeah, the column is a bit overlightened.

Isn´t there a bit to much light on the column's base? You can only see the form in the shadow of it!

A good photograph indeed. I would have loved to add a soft spot focus light on the book

I like the light best here I think.. It really shows a lot of natural skin tones.
