 I took this photo during a break in a week long rainstorm. It was early evening and the overcast produced a picture was a blue grey sky. I took 5 photos to work with to try and pull out some of the nicer details using Thumbs Plus Pro for post processing.
This included in this order:
Minor stretch of color channels and a minor balance of colors. I then did an equalization of channels. I then lowered the gamma from 1.30 to 1.13. Next I lowered the hue by -7, the saturation was upped by +40, the lightness was reduced by -20 and the contrast went up by +40. After this processing the noise was ugly so I then used TP’s median edge sensitive noise filter in a 7 pixel diameter on all channels. I then used just a touch of Neatimage. I then cropped the image to size. I ran out of time before I could get Photoshop 7 to work properly! I intended to use it to bring out the details in Mt. Burdell in the lower right corner of the photo. It’s the second highest ‘Peak’ in Marin County California. I then made ready with a contingency photo just in case… and as it turned out I had to submit that one knowing that the Gamma adjustment on MANY monitors was going to kill its chances for a decent placement in the challenge... as is noted in a number of the comments left.

I think this photo was underrated..I thought it was lovely and soft like an old oil painting..I felt it was at least a 7..

very pretty shot with lots of nice colors but I'm forced to ask where the earth? Without the earth in the shot as a noticable element Iam unable to associate this with separation.. As is without the title I would have no clue what separation you were trying to portray. No separation but a great shot. 6

The colors are like those of an oil painting..just beautiful and soft...this could grace the Sistine chapel ceiling.

This is fantastically beautiful and dreamlike. It's much more "sky" than "earth", though, and it's hard to read it as an earth/sky separation. Even so, a very strong entry and I score it high.

The title is good! As the picture was loading I thought I would see some mountains, or some pice of land on the lower part. I would have cropped it that way.
