I feel I might get gutted like a caught fish.

To open or make a passage, as by a bridge.

this reminds me of one of my favorite photos of all time by henri cartier-bresson. I'm not sure throwing bridge in the title makes it meet the challenge, but its a nice photo. Would have been wonderful for roadsigns.
