 Well, I'll be ... fifth place with my fifth highest score, and my fifth over 6.5 in 2005.

I intended to shoot the thing at night, actually ... but I might save that for bridges III ;-)

Two small stories here. I arrived at Battersea about fifty minutes before this is taken. Right where this is shot from was a guy with a great big DSLR, logo'd-up bags for all his gear, the works. Shooting a frame about every ten seconds or so, mostly from this angle. Looking to the western horizon, it was absolutely clear to me that within minutes the sun was going to emerge from beneath this nasty bank of cloud, and the bridge was going to look like ... well, this. About two minutes before this moment, the guy packs up and leaves. I was staggered.

This was about the last shot I took before the batteries died on the A340. No matter, I have spares of course. Insert spare batteries, switch on camera, compose shot, press shutter ... and camera switches itself off ... my spares are duds! So: never buy what you think are great value batteries - use the real thing.

Nice rich, dramatic, beautifully lit shot. A tad too heavy in the shads, but this is part of the style and vibe. You may ribbon with this.

Great composition. Cool clouds. You have to try some dodging and burning after the challenge (outside challenge rules). I love the contrast between the quite bright bridge structure and the dark background. 10.

A dramatic, Wagnerian sort of bridge image. It's a very good composition from a well-chosen point-of-view, and the lighting is marvellous. There are no distractions or flaws, and everything works in harmony. Given the Basic Editing constraints, this is a superb achievement. 9

Wow! I am glad to see you really can get dramatic looking photos without the use of dodge & burn tools. Excellent photo! Maybe just a little too dark in the water, but still a 9.

the area below the bridge is too dark, it has no detail, an adjustment using curves would bring out more detail there, other than that a very good shot

Rich and moody, a striking view of a very famous bridge. I wish it weren't so blocked up in the shadows under the bridge; I'd liek to see a hint of separation between shadow and water, so the water has some life. The only hint that there even IS any water is the one reflection lower right.
