Camera: Nikon D70
Lens: Nikon AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED
Location: My bedroom
Date: Feb 10, 2005
Aperture: F/4
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/2 sec.
Date Uploaded: Feb 13, 2005

I had to fool with the white balance, curves and levels a lot to bring out the reflection in the window and to neutralize the color cast from the incandescent light. Also cropped a good bit and added a soft effect Gaussian blur layer at about 25 percent. Finally reduced the size, cropped a bit again and applied USM.

I'm especially grateful for the comments this time, as without them I never would have known about the green hair reflection, which just doesn't show up on my monitor. I guess it's also invisible to some other folks out there, too, judging from some of the more positive comments. I did view this photo on my husband's computer after I'd received one or two comments about it and the reflection does appear in all its hideous glory on his monitor. lol! Well, it's taught me a good lesson, that I need to either buy a new monitor or check every photo on at least two computers! I really wish I could remove this one from my portfolio. In any event, thanks again for the honest comments. :)

Nice picture. In MHO the reflection (mostly the hair) could be more subtle.

Nice shot, it may have been nice to crop it a bit tighter:)

Very, very reflective and what a lovely layout!. The flowers, blanket window and curtains all add to the low key inner feeling of this image. The reflection, a play on the title, is nice because the general darkness around it give it a quiet sense of peace. However, the viewer is left a little hungry for more detail or rather a closer view. Yet, this does not prove a draw back for me because you have managed to create, while not quite a portrait, a pleasing image which carries the more gentle feelings in us all. Bumping up.

i don't know anything about portraiture, so i'm using your image as a guinnea pig as to what i think i would or wouldn't do in this situation, as well as what i notice and get out of your image.

i appreciate what you've attempted here, as i tried something similar, but just couldn't make it work. reflections are very, very tricky. i like your general composition and choice of colors; i think they very much convey the image you wanted to create. unfortunately, i think your reflection is coming through a bit too forced, almost as if pasted in. this is definitely something worth revisiting, possibly outside the constraints of editing rules, as i think you are onto something. nice effort!

The reflection looks a little strange -- otherwise a nice photo

there are some really wierd black marks on the window. Is this, perhaos, where you did some spot editting? You might need to calibrate your monitor.

I liked you composure and the lighting... it's a shame about the noise in the reflection though!

I dont like the green hue in your hair in the reflection. If you didnt have that I'd give it a 7.
