Idea:
Fooling around in front of my camera until I got this self portrait.
Setup:
My desktop light was placed on a couch on my left. I was down on my knees in front of the camera (don't know why is wasn't standing, actually). The cam was on a tripod. I used a remote control which I dropped immediately.
Post Processing:
Crop, desaturation, curves, brightness/contrast, resize, USM, white border.
Comments:
If you want dramatic shadows on your stomach don't eat as many cookies as I did before shooting. I guess I need some more exercise ;).
In the original there's a visible hot pixel, and some of the background of my room can be seen. It's hard for me to tell how much brightness and contrast are going to vary between different screens. This version's for TFT.

My guess is he either didn't vote on 20% of the pictures or the robots found his voting to be inconsistent. Too bad...
You're right, the light source was pretty close to my left shoulder, but moving it farther away would have created softer shadows than I wished for. I tried higher exposures, but as you said, it would have blown out my shoulder (graphically ;). I might try that, though: the image is too dark.
Uhm, baby oil? No thanks :) srbrubaker said the acting seems unconvincing. Well, my neck hurt for 5 days because I contracted the muscles too much!
If euskadi gave you a 10, where did it go? Looks like zero 10s on the board to me. Anyway, yes, nice photo. I agree that the lighting coul dbe improved... need more contrast by making the light more intense. This could have been accomplished in the camera with a longer shutter/widder app, but then you would have over exposed the shoulder. I'm guessing that your shoulder was pretty close to the light source? The neck and arm aren't overdone. So move the source a little further away so it's not too intense in any one area and get a brighter exposure.
Here's a bonus idea... since the challenge is about pain... immitate sweat with some baby oil.
This is interesting picture, well composed. The lighting though is problematic I think which is a pity cause it could do very well in the challenge. Just my opinion. I still give it an 9, as it is one of the better pictures in this challenge
