This was just one of those photos I submitted purposely just to see how people react to it. It is an ugly photo, and the subject is not to appealing, and I know that. Brown Ribbon baby !! well deserved

hmm,,, of all the challenges in which one might get the brown, this one is really not so bad. personally, i'd rather come in dead last than 4th or 7th percentile (which I've done so far)...

Woah you got a brown ribbon, guess what that can be good cause then your profile gets noticed a little more:) Its ok I am not far from you with this challenge. Last 10 in the bunch :) I got a few of these too so dont sweat it.. Its pink and not the best color for me...

You are still going in the right direction this isnt bad, probably to many chics, babes, and flowers, for this to appeal to anyone. Voting is in the viewers eyes ....

Slightly out of focus and a little over exposed, sunlight or flash ? a little harsh.

Your subject is certainly pink but the image suffers from poor lighting (harsh flash), bad focus, and not a very pleasing composition. Also, the subject matter, raw meat is hardly appealing. For the life of me though, I can't think of how to make a raw center loin chop look artistic. Sorry for not offering any suggestions.

Interesting subject you have picked here, it does met the challenge. However the topic subject here is just not very appealing, not too many people will score this well do to the subject here. It's one of those things where you really wouldn't see this hanging on someone's wall and I think people will look at it that way. Good Luck.

"Meats" the challenge, but the focus could be tighter. IMO the chops would have been more atractively presented with a solid backgound.

This seems a bit out of focus

Well, there's some pink there, but otherwise I struggle with this image and see problems with sharpness, overblown highlights, clashing colours and textures, and extraneous elements in the composition.

Interesting Idea...Lighting seems a little harsh. If I was to shoot this I might have tried a different angle. Crouch down around the bottom right of the cutting board and shoot across the subject. Show a little more thickness of the meat and the cutting board. This might have cut down on the glare in that hot spot in the middle and added some depth to the presentation.

There is too much glare in this picture. The composition (mainly, orientation) doesn't seem well thought out, as though this is a quick snapshot.

Harsh light, and not really the most attractive subject matter. Does this have merit as a photograph outside of the challenge topic?
02/07/2005 03:17:55 PM
sharpness?

Too much flash. Makes it look out of focus as well.

Oh, brother...do you really think this is a good shot? It's all out of focus, and what's out of focus is two slabs of gross looking meat. Sorry to be so negative, but oy vey, I see no upside.

Flash made the light too harsh. The oversharpness and general postediting feel seems amateurish...
02/06/2005 08:31:32 PM
The photo could be larger and the focus seems a bit soft. So were they good?
